Cook Cemetery
Cherokee County, Texas

Cook Cemetery is in the Linwood Community, Cherokee Co., Texas. It is about 5 miles west of Alto, Texas, on Hwy 21. Go pass FM 241. Look for the cemetery sign on the right. Turn left off Hwy 21 onto CR 2526. Go 2.5 miles. The cemetery sign is on the left. Turn left onto a dirt road, which might be a road with grass on it. Follow this road with a chain link fence until you come to the cemetery gate. You will see the cemetery. Edith Low Cook was the first burial in Cook Cemetery in 1857. Edith was the first wife of Shelby H. Cook, the original owner and farmer of the land on which Cook Cemetery lies. Shelby's log cabin was located 50 feet from where Edith is buried, only remnants of the cabin's foundation remains today.
