Providence Cemetery is located about 5 miles south of Jacksonville, Texas, on FM 347 just out of Dialville. When Mr. Mid Deason died, Mrs. Deason wanted him buried on the knoll under the trees. She wanted him buried where each time she walked out on her porch she could see his grave. She stood on her porch, and when the men got to the right place, she waved her bonnet at them and there they dug the grave. This area was soon given as a cemetery. These listings were catalogued in 1969 and updated March 23, 2000. Approximate number of gravesites: 1,230.
