Cherokee County, Texas
To find Mt. Hope Cemetery started from the Square in Rusk on Hwy 84 going West go approx. 2 miles and turn left on FM 1248. Go 5.5 miles to Mt. Hope Cemetery sign turn right go approx. .9 miles. Church is on the right and the Cemetery is on the left. The oldest marked grave is that of John T. Peel in 1884. Sadly to say, there are as many graves unmarked as there are marked, but in recent years more are being marked with new stones. Catalogued November 1972. Updated Sept. 2, 2006 by Martha Coats. Markers have been added to about 20 of the previously unmarked graves.
